Outside the Classroom
Outside the Classroom
Hands-on, experiential learning experiences take Waynflete students outside the classroom every day.
Knowing that play is as critical as sleep to a child’s development, our Early Childhood and Lower School teachers stay with their classes during recess, lunch, and snack time. This allows students to engage in deep play, where they learn to set their own rules and roles. As they manage a mud-pie kitchen or strategize the fastest route down the sledding hill, our youngest learners are also tackling big challenges, acquiring new skills and interests, working with others—and having fun.
In Middle and Upper School, students’ worlds and capabilities expand and so does their capacity for wonder. Whether they are sampling water quality in protected marshland, witnessing a naturalization ceremony, or working with real NASA scientists to measure asteroids, they are seeing firsthand what the world has to offer them—and what they can offer the world.
